[From today's Poetic Asides prompt: a poem about a color.]
Orange
Rhymeless fire, Dutch treat,
prison jumper, you are all
that is left of the Giants here.
A sailor sees your flare
breach the seasky blue,
and his heart leaps to rescue.
But it's not a lifejacket,
only a Mandarin orange
with a prayer for true love
written on its skin.
Lucky warning, you were always
my favorite. Real gourmets know
the middle of the candy corn
is the best part.
