Poem On: Day 9
Mawile (#303)
Then,
quite suddenly,
her face was gone,
and I was crushed
between dark steel jaws.
All of it was real:
the grotesque metal snap,
the ecstatic hammer-burn
of one consumed alive.
No time for denial,
sudden as the blush
of love a minute before
seeing her soft eyes,
her black hair, her proportion
tamed and elegant. No lesson
in those strong jaws. Only
her power. Why should a girl settle,
become a metaphor to teach boys,
when there are wonderful monsters
to be?
