thinking about their haircut. A hush
like a bride is passing.
Carful of the usual: ghosts,
tourists, philosophers. Every
closed mouth knows some natural
fun--a spark or pressure bar--
could make them famous, breathless
anchors on either shore, reporting
Well, it finally happened. Safe
only because the river forgives.
Another hundred yards. No hustle
or gawk till Brooklyn. It's not
showtime, only green hope
and the echo of a dozen headphones
battling the A/C. Don't think, just go.
