30:30 2014, Day 7
Call
A sort of sparrow around here
makes the tone of a dumb hardbutton
cellphone. Shrewd, to evolve for ears
of the sure marks: the old, the broke,
the lonesome. Bound to feed
when you call and call. They know you
aren't the long-gone spouse, the redhead
at work, but you're the one who needs them
aloud. Cheeeeerup, the song goes. Cheeeeerup, you.
