then a richer robe shot

with bits not strong enough

to be a heart. Everything

beyond is for show: gold

leaf, earthen tutu, name

shouted all caps. Now,

always, a box. Even for

the cheapest assembly.

You might forget

without the prism

of pomp and inconvenience

that these little earths arrayed

for you to undress

are a gift. Not much gotten

easily is worth wishing for.
