Pickup Poem Day 6
ECTO-1 Lego Set
What greater evil in the city
of bricks than the dead
who refuse to fit
in their little time?
Ungridded they flip aside
the book and its soothing,
wordless directions.
A ghost is a psychokinetic
toddler, hunger or defiance,
learning to walk again in every
dimension, snot-trail
and building wreck through
their path. Race to assemble
the hundred tiny walls
into the master design--
we are fast and they are slow.
All you can do with a ghost
is drag them to a box
before they take the shape
of the largest chaos: 2,352
shattered blocks, no purpose
but to savage sockless feet
with all the righteous spite
of the ones who died before
they had a chance to build.
