The temporary love that throbs
at me in vicious downbeats.
The prayers wasted on me.
The numbered ballets and costume drama.
The stadium seats, row after row
of obsidian teeth.
I am too young, too noticed to be anything
but sacrifice.

rippling pecs
sun -glossed
torn tossed lost
decks
of cards
thrown to the wind
