Offering up the morning in antic dream,

Bearing the dose from grease-stained urn or Thermos; 

Blue relic of a city on the move,

What dignity you brought the hardest role!

You taught us regular means sweet and light,

The broad ways duty meanders into love--

What burgher's heaven approaches your delight,

Kissed by degrees by every waking soul?
