Poem starting with a line from Norman Dubie
The lights of the galaxies are strung out over a dipper of gin,
or the better part of a very large bear. Even an amateur
can see it. When the Doctors and Viziers weren't busy
inventing algebra, they saw three great leaps. Much further
north, the blond fisherman saw Charles' wagon, Charles
the wink-wink nickname for a no-longer-acceptable god.
In a better world, we would tell our children this
is where the term Chuck Wagon comes from.
In a better world, Ursa Major Moving Group
were underrated titans of the progressive sound,
known to fans just by their initials.
