Pound's Canto Against Helvetica

With Helvetica hath no designer the daemon of creation
no distress nor charm in the proposal
no client arguments over email
what The Future looketh like,
with Helvetica hath no adjunct rested eyes
the natural order of syllabus defied
theses on the Canon stingeth the macula
rendered as flatpack furniture directions
sans Higge, sans Köttbullar. 
The great city is dissected
veins splayed and places named with false equality
Grand Central the same as Avenue X
Amalek the same as Bethlehem.
Helvetica is a sign without wonders
so the tradesmen rabble knoweth before they goeth.
With Helvetica logos the pathetic drab of fashion:
the software behemoth an anonymous micron
the apparel models stripped and terrified
the American eagle caged between two craggy alphas.

the Humanist abjureth his god
the Roman is sacked by Vandals
the Bold dareth not stand out from the specimen
descenders touching the base lead
in defiled Virgilian palaver
