Poem for the Knuckleball
An aspirin in an old man's hand dreamt
it was the egg of the phoenix. Or the uncertain
poisoned molecule in Schroedinger's cruel
and hypothetical box. Or a Christian
surrender to the truth
direction is not control. Or the way
we wandered, blackout drunk, in lolling sine
waves, inexplicably home.
An aspirin in an old man's hand dreamt
it was the egg of the phoenix. Or the uncertain
poisoned molecule in Schroedinger's cruel
and hypothetical box. Or a Christian
surrender to the truth
direction is not control. Or the way
we wandered, blackout drunk, in lolling sine
waves, inexplicably home.
